Inspire yourself

 Personal Empowerment
Use Empowering Words When You Talk to Yourself
(whether you are speaking out loud or silently)
How do you talk to yourself?
Do you use the words "can't", "won't", "don't need to", "why try"?
Many people do.
Do you find that what you say to yourself turns out to be true?
Why is this?
You see your brain is like a computer that you feed each day. It doesn't know always know what's real or not unless you tell it.
Example: If someone you love has hurt you, you may tell yourself that all people who love you will probably hurt you too.
Your brain just files this information for reference, it's data, little zeroes and ones and no column that asks "true or not true?" Now your brain thinks, based on what you told it, that everyone you'll ever love will hurt you.
How do you think you will respond the next time you get hurt?
Right!!
Now, what if we instead told our brain:
"Okay this person ripped my heart out - but that's only one person. I'm lovable and have many loving people in my life who are not out to hurt me. I know that the right people are coming into my life all the time. If someone hurts me, I will forgive them and bless them on their way."
Words can be empowering.
I can
I love to
I want to
I will
I must
I am
We can reach a new level of living, if we feed ourselves empowering words and practice saying them until they become a habit.
I know first hand that it takes time.
And I also know that it's worth it.
Try it for a week.
Catch yourself saying, "I can't", when you don't really mean it and instead try, "I can", and see how you think and feel about yourself.
Remember, the words you use to empower yourself will have a lasting effect, only if you practice them and they become a habit (an acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary).
They say it takes at least 28 days to develop a habit. After a week, you will see that it becomes easier. It's a mindset and you can control your thoughts. Be proactive and not reactive - give yourself some good words.
Dream big and empower yourself! Believe you can and you will...

A Luxurious Presence

 A Luxurious Presence
When we planned a weekend away together, we were seeking to find a place where we could escape from the business of our day-to-day lives. We needed to go to a place that would allow us to put things back into proper perspective, focus on our lives as a couple and to examine our priorities.
After we checked in, our first interaction with another guest was our encounter with the man and his fancy car in the circular driveway in front of the Mansion. He was blocking the narrow driveway, car parked, door wide opened. We could have easily continued along, if only he would have closed the door to his car.
The concierge ran up to our car window with a sense of urgency and a hint of authority uttering that was something wrong with the hydraulics system of the car. We quietly sat in our car, observing the man with his broken down, door wide opened Jaguar.
My husband is a skilled auto technician with a good heart who has worked on the finest of cars. I knew that my husband was fully present in our quest to create space where we could focus on our lives together when he chose not to engage in the stranger's situation or try to rescue him.
Several minutes passed before the car owner approached us with an apology. He explained that the car was inoperable and that he could not close his door, as his hands had gotten dirty so he could not touch his car door to close it to allow us to get by.
The man with the broken down Jaguar's reality was clear to us, the cleanliness of his car door should take priority over our ability to exit the driveway at this time.
My husband's reaction was calm. He went to his toolbox in the back of our car, pulled out a clean rag, handed it to the man and suggested that it could be used to close the door so that we could be on our way. The man seemed a bit hesitant to accept such a simple solution to what seemed to be a very difficult situation for him, but he accepted the rag, closed his door and watched with a rather puzzled look on his face as we drove away.
We arrived at the building where we would stay for night and agreed to head out for a walk and some lunch after dropping off our bags. Our room was on the lower level of the building. It was well appointed with amenities, spacious and bit dark as it lacked the capacity to allow natural light to come in.
We noticed the note card on the bed almost immediately. It said that the resort as environmentally conscience and would only wash sheets every other day, unless otherwise requested, in an effort to conserve water.
We both agreed that we were happy to be in such and environmentally conscience place, as conservation was something we both are compassionate about.
We held hands as we walked and discussed the lessons of Eckhart Tolle that we had engaged in earlier as we set out to explore the place of luxury.
We checked out the spa, to see what it offered as a means of "getting away from it all." It was a busy place, filled with people dressed in fancy white bathrobes and black plastic slippers where fresh towels abound. "So this is what luxury looks like", I found myself thinking. I refilled my reusable water bottle while were there and we were on our way.
After observing the spa, we found an outside café that seemed like a great spot to stop for some lunch. While we waited for our salads, we talked about how we were both surprised that the same facility which washed sheets every other day rather than every day in an effort to be environmentally conscience, did not have a place to recycle all those plastic cups in the spa.
As we looked out over the golf course, we wondered if they kept the greens looking so lovely without the use of chemicals. Our shared effort to live with as little impact to our planet as possible was the topic of conversation during our lunch together.
We examined the options available in order to make the best choice possible with regards to the enormous amounts of left over salad on our plates when we were done eating. Our waitress explained that people complained if large quantities of food were not served. She also explained that almost no one finishes those large quantities.
We asked if they composted. We found out they do not. We discussed how using the restaurant's disposable container to take the leftovers with us would create additional waste beyond what we already were looking at. We resolved to not take the leftovers and to bring our own reusable container from now on when we go out to eat.
We made the most of the rest of our trip to the luxury spa. We used their facilities, dined at their restaurants and did our best to hold true to our own beliefs along the way. We learned that one man's luxury differs greatly from another's. The amenities at the spa that were placed there for our comfort in the first place, were the same things that made us uncomfortable. We do not like to support, create or contribute to avoidable waste. We did not give careful thought to what we were doing when we arranged to come to the luxury resort. We focused only on finding a place that we could rest comfortably and be together. When we came across the luxury spa's website, it seemed perfect at the time.
Would we go back to the luxury spa? Absolutely not, but not because they did not provide everything they promised. We will not go back because when we slowed down to think about it, if we were really present when we sought to find the perfect "getaway" spot, we would have recognized that the luxury spa was not a place we would want to support. This was a place that would put any environmentally conscience person outside of their comfort zone, us included.
We did however get exactly what were seeking in the first place. What we sought, we did not find by the golf course, in a fancy white robe or even inside the resort's swanky castle. What we got, was our return to presence, something we possessed all along and had lost sight of. We learned from our experience at the resort and left with a new appreciation for what comfort and luxury really mean to us.
Most importantly we will remember that the only place we will ever need to go to experience what we sought in the first place, is within....

                                          3-TREES

Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said, "Someday I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems. I could be decorated with intricate carving and everyone would see the beauty."
Then the second tree said, "Someday I will be a mighty ship. I will take kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull."
Finally the third tree said, "I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on top of the hill and look up to my branches, and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I am reaching. I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me."
After a few years of praying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. When one came to the first tree he said, "This looks like a strong tree, I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter" ... and he began cutting it down. The tree was happy, because he knew that the carpenter would make him into a treasure chest.
At the second tree a woodsman said, "This looks like a strong tree, I should be able to sell it to the shipyard." The second tree was happy because he knew he was on his way to becoming a mighty ship.
When the woodsmen came upon the third tree, the tree was frightened because he knew that if they cut him down his dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, "I don't need anything special from my tree so I'll take this one", and he cut it down.
When the first tree arrived at the carpenters, he was made into a feed box for animals. He was then placed in a barn and filled with hay. This was not at all what he had prayed for. The second tree was cut and made into a small fishing boat. His dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had come to an end. The third tree was cut into large pieces and left alone in the dark. The years went by, and the trees forgot about their dreams.
Then one day, a man and woman came to the barn. She gave birth and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree. The man wished that he could have made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree could feel the importance of this event and knew that it had held the greatest treasure of all time. Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep. While they were out on the water, a great storm arose and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke the sleeping man, and he stood and said "Peace" and the storm stopped. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat.
Finally, someone came and got the third tree. It was carried through the streets as the people mocked the man who was carrying it. When they came to a stop, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill. When Sunday came, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible, because Jesus had been crucified on it.
MORAL:
The moral of this story is that when things don't seem to be going your way, always know that God has a plan for you. If you place your trust in Him, He will give you great gifts. Each of the trees got what they wanted, just not in the way they had imagined. We don't always know what God's plans are for us. We just know that His ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best.

Skin Care Tips

Skin Care Tips:
Successful acne care can be a tenuous task. Everything that you do has to balance out or you risk an outbreak of acne. Even the smallest mistake can trigger an enormous outbreak.

In order to treat acne correctly, you need to understand what causes it and what the myths are regarding it. There are many different theories when it comes to skin blemishes, and sorting them out is crucial. Dermatologists have created guidelines and information pamphlets so that you understand what you are dealing with and not make it worse.

Causes - it is not a skin disorder associated with dirt and grime. Most people with acne follow a strict acne skin care ritual of cleansing multiple times during the day and still get outbreaks. There are a lot of factors involved that cause the problem.

Acne is caused when the oil glands under the skin produce more oil than the body can get rid of. Teenagers are more prone to it because of the hormonal changes that take place during puberty. Some people have oilier skin than others and they are more susceptible to acne.

Another major factor in this skin disorder is the shape of the pores of the person suffering from it. Studies have shown that if a person has abnormally shaped pores, then he or she will develop acne as opposed to the person with normal pores.

As human beings, our skin is always shedding and rejuvenating itself. When the dead skin mixes with the oils that are produced, it clogs the pores. This is the perfect environment for bacteria to develop under the skin and outbreaks then occur.

What you use to clean your face is very important. Do not use soap on your face. This is because you cannot rinse it off completely and as it dries, it can clog your pores resulting in an acne outbreak. It is very important that you use a water-soluble cleanser because it rinses off completely and you lessen the risk of an outbreak.

Removing excess oils from your skin is an essential part of acne maintenance.
Although cleansers are very good a cleaning your skin, they do not remove excess oil. In order to do this, it is recommended that you use facial masks or even rice paper. It is important that you test the mask that you are going to use because there are chemicals in some of them that can cause a chemical reaction with your skin. It is important that you consult your dermatologist before starting any acne skin care medication or products. He or she will advise you if it is right for you.

Exfoliating your skin is an extremely beneficial treatment. This gets rid of dead skin and promotes new cell growth thereby achieving a whole new look of clean and smooth skin.

Last but certainly not least, is the fact that you need to disinfect your skin. When you disinfect, you are killing the bacteria that cause acne.

There are many products on the market today that can assist you in for fight against skin irregularities, so look around for what is best for you and your particular situation.

EyeBrow Shaping-How to shape and Define Your Eyebrows

EyeBrow Shaping-How to shape and Define Your Eyebrows

Eye brow shaping, in the make-up application process, should be done before applying foundation, concealer and powder to the face. Defining your eyebrows before applying eye make up, cheek color or lipstick makes a big difference in the overall balance you are trying to create.
Make-up artists consider eyebrows and eye brow shaping the most important facial feature because well defined eye brows will frame the eyes, make them look bigger and give the face a polished look.
Shapeless and messy eyebrows can ruin any make-up effect you try to create. You can have a facialist wax them (or use laser hair removal) but first be sure she knows which shape you want and is experienced in eye brow shaping. Although there are many choices, the most elegant brow shape is long, clean, and natural.
Hold the Tweezers!...
The main purpose of eye brow shaping and removing unwanted hair from the eyebrow area is to create a flattering arch that enhances the eye. Make sure that you have a clear idea of the shape you wish to achieve before you pick up a pair of tweezers. It's best to stick to a naturally trimmed look, unless you are trying to create a more dramatic effect.
If you are thinking of plucking your eye brows for the first time, see a professional before you do. Many times the hair tweezed during eye brow shaping does not grow back right or does not grow back at all. Either way, you will need a good pair of tweezers and the ability to use them correctly. Few makeup tricks can help you look as good as a pair of beautiful eye brows can.
Most of us women have eyebrows that require some type of definition (eye brow shaping) to look complete. Applying make-up to your eyebrows helps them stand out and look complete. At first, you may feel the eye brow pencil has exaggerated your eye brows. Just remember that your are used to seeing your old look and it takes a short time to adjust to a new look.

Eye Brow Shaping to Perfection...
Begin the eye brow shaping process by balancing your eyebrow so that it is proportionate with the rest of your face. Look in the mirror and place imaginary lines (or a pencil) across your face to match the lines shown here. Do this on both sides of the nose and pluck only in between. Be careful about the distance between the inner brows and the length of the brows.
A. When eye brow shaping, imagine a vertical line going up from the outside of your nostril towards your forehead. The inner part of the eyebrow should converge with this line.
B. A straight line going out from the outside corner of your nostril past the outer corner of your eye marks the end of your eyebrow.
C. Your arch should be found two thirds of the way from your inner eyebrow.
Plucking Your Eye Brows Away...
No two eyebrows are exactly the same but during this eye brow shaping phase you can achieve as symmetrical a look as possible. Start by using tweezers with pointed or slanted tips since they grip the hairs best.
Never pluck the top of your eye brows, always pluck below the eye brow line, and follow it's natural arch. You can use the top of the brow as a guideline to shape the bottom.
You will notice that the eyebrow gets narrower as it goes upwards and outwards. Pluck the hairs out toward the ears following the natural hair growth. Pluck slowly and check your eye brow shaping progress often by looking in the mirror.

   1. To begin eye brow shaping, start at the inner corner, brush the eyebrow upwards and back using a mascara wand or brow brush, then brush downwards the hair to be removed.
2. Draw over your eyebrow a very dark outline of the shape you want using a dark eyebrow pencil. Make sure both eyebrows are as symmetrical as possible, then remove any hairs outside the outline.

3. Begin hair removal of hairs outside this outline (stray hairs) using tweezers. Pluck each hair as close to the root as possible. Pluck one hair at a time, always pluck from underneath the brow and pull hairs in their growth direction using a swift, sharp movement.
4. After plucking eyebrows, brush them into shape using an eye brow brush. Work upward and outward to give the brow more definition. Your eye brow shaping phase is complete.
5. To achieve symmetry you can use eyebrow pencil, shadow or stencil to define the eye brows. Use light strokes to fill in any gaps.
6. Comb through again with the brow brush to blend in the eyebrow pencil. You can use hair spray to keep hairs in place by spraying a clean mascara wand and combing it through the eyebrow.
What Eye Brow Color to Blend in...
After eye brow shaping you need to determine your eyebrow make-up color using your present hair color as a guideline, whether it's natural or artificially colored

Applying Lipstick to Enhance your Lip Shape

Applying Lipstick to Enhance your Lip Shape:
Applying lipstick with moisturizers and sun protection is one effective way to protect the lips from weather changes. Moisturizing lipsticks have the smallest amount of pigment, because pigment dries your lips. Today, most lipsticks contain some kind of moisturizer like Vitamin E, collagen, or amino acids, and some even contain sun block.
Lipstick adds the finishing touch to makeup by bringing the other colors you have applied to your face into harmony. Applying lipstick after drawing a crisp lip outline is an important key in the finishing touch since it helps to keep the color from bleeding.
First; Apply Lipliner (Lip Pencil)...
Before applying lipstick, use a freshly sharpened lip pencil (lip liner) either in the same color as the lipstick or slightly darker color. Avoid colors that are more than one shade darker (or lighter).
Here is the correct sequence to follow when lining your lips and applying lipstick:
1.  To make applying lipstick easier, rub a small amount of moisturizer on your lips (some women apply lipstick at the dinner table and even while driving).

2.  Outline the center edge of your upper lip with lip liner.

3.  Move to the center of your bottom lip and draw a short, horizontal line.

4.  Now carefully line the corners of your mouth. If your lips are asymmetric, refer to correcting irregularly shaped lips section below.
5.  Connect the lines drawn at the top and bottom center of your lips with the lines drawn at the corners of your mouth.
Then... Apply Lipstick...
6.  Use a small, firm lip brush and begin applying lipstick; this gives you more control over direction and achieves a perfect edge. Relax your jaw so that your mouth is open slightly and brush on color starting in the middle of the upper lip.
7.  Blot your lips gently on a tissue, being careful not to smudge or remove too much color. Then brush on a second coat of lip color to create a deeper effect.
8.  For a shiny finish, use a clear or tinted lip gloss after applying lipstick. For a matte effect, lightly dust your lips with translucent powder using a powder brush.
Applying Lipstick to Correct Irregularly Shaped Lips...
If you want to correct lips that are irregular or asymmetric in shape and create the illusion of almost perfectly balanced lips, it would be easier to do before you apply color to the lips.
To balance the appearance of your lips while lining (before applying lipstick), first, divide the mouth into sections, and work on one section at a time until all the dotted lines are connected. And be aware that matte colors make lips look thinner while shimmery, glossy colors make your lips look fuller.
Make Thin Lips Look Bigger
Use a lip liner to outline your lips just outside their natural edge, making the outline slightly wider on the top and bottom. Then brush on a layer of lip color inside the outline. Spread on a layer of lip gloss on top of your lip color.
 make full lips look smaller
Apply foundation or concealer to the edges of your lips to blur the edge. Use a lip liner to outline your lips just inside the lip line, then brush on a layer of matte lip color.

make uneven lips look balanced
Enlarge a thin top lip by outlining the upper lip just outside the edge using a lip liner, then outline the lower lip drawing the line on the on the natural edge. Brush on lip color inside the line, applying more color to the thinner half of the lip.

Make Shapeless Lips More Defined
Outline upper lip with a lip liner to emphasize the "v" in the middle before applying lipstick. Draw the line just outside the lip edge of the bottom lip to make it look fuller. Brush on dark, matte lip colors for even more definition.
Make Uneven Toned Lips Look Even Colored
Cover upper and lower lips with a little foundation. Outline lips with lip liner. Choose the lipstick color, then begin applying lipstick by brushing a darker shade onto the lighter lip and a lighter shade onto the darker lip.

Applying Lip Gloss...
Lip gloss is used to add extra shine after applying lipstick. It can be tinted or colorless and you can use it alone or over lipstick for kissing. Apply only to the center of your lips since.nce it tends to 'bleed' beyond the lip edges. Lip gloss is not recommended for use on mature skins.
